Standard Adoption Contract

1. The bird will be provided with clean water on a daily basis 
2. The bird will be provided with a high quality, species appropriate diet that is recommended by LLRS (vegetables, crumbles and seed)
3. The bird will not be fed Trill, Harmony, Frankie & Friends, Peckish or supermarket branded pet food
4. The bird will be provided with a clean adequate sized enclosure made with avian safe materials 
5. The bird will be allowed adequate ‘out of cage’ time on a daily basis 
6. The bird will be provided with natural wooden perches of varying sizes 
7. The bird will be provided with avian safe enrichment toys 
8. The bird will never be used for free-flying or breeding
9. The bird will be returned to LLRS if they need to be rehomed 
10. The bird will be provided with veterinary care in a timely matter if needed
11. An adoption fee of $________________ will be paid at the start of the 28 day foster period, if the bird does not fit with the new home, this fee will be refunded. This fee is not refundable once the 28 days have lapsed.

The bird remains under ownership of ‘LLRS’ until the end the 28 days foster period, and the following conditions apply:

1. I understand that I must provide weekly photographic updates to LLRS
2. The bird must be immediately returned to LLRS on request if the above conditions are deemed to not be met
3. I understand that if the bird requires veterinary care, this cost is covered by LLRS unless the necessary treatment is due to injury in the foster home, then I understand that I will cover these costs or return the bird to LLRS immediately.
   1. I understand that the cost of veterinary care that is covered by LLRS is only if treatment is undertaken by Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic (Scoresby), and that if I choose to use a different clinic, then all costs will be covered by the adoptee.
4. I understand that ownership of the bird will be automatically transferred to me once the 28 day period has lapsed
